Looking forward to Lent?

blog Looking forward to Lent?

I love the feeling I get the day after a great workout at the gym. The tender muscles are a reminder of what I’m capable of.

Lent begins tomorrow, and we get a chance to grow our faith muscles. we are given the chance to “rediscover our Bapstism and live it more fervently and generiously.” (from My Lenten Prayer Book – see below).

I get really pumped when it comes time for Lent. I feel like a runner at the starting line in a Cross Country race… anticipating the course, knowing my lungs and legs will be burning soon, not knowing exactly what twists and turns are to come.  It’s going to be challenging, and it will hurt (but not harm).

I’m excited! I’m excited to see what I’m capable of – how much I can grow, how much I can (hopefully) inspire and encourage others.

As you carefully (or frantically, or forgetfully) pick something to “give up” for Lent, remember to give yourself grace if you fall off the wagon.

Yes, Lent is a solemn time. There is much self refletion and penance to be done. And works of mercy. And prayer. But instead of looking at that as a list to check off, each of these is an invitation to grow closer to Jesus.

What a blessing!

Love to all,
Megan

We love the way this card looks and feels. Smooth edge lamination has the shiny, smooth plastic coating without the clear border of a traditional laminated prayer card. This lamination process resembles a credit card, but the card is slightly taller than a credit card, and about half as thick.

Imagine having the most productive Lent of your life by setting aside a little extra prayer time every day throughout the 40 days of Lent. Your prayers will bear fruit in the form of an enriched faith and a deaper connection to God.

Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC, author of 33 Days to Morning Glory, one of the most popular Catholic books of the last decade, brings us his first new book in three years.33 Days to Greater Glory, based on the Gospel of John, completes a trilogy of consecrations: first to Mary, then to Jesus, the Divine Mercy, and now to God, our Father. This final consecration to our Heavenly Father truly is the “greater” consecration, the one in which all others find their origin and end.
This book follows a four-part structure:
-Week 1 covers the first four chapters of John and introduces several key people.-Week 2 covers the seven miracles, or signs, Jesus works in the Gospel-Week 3 is dedicated to the Upper Room where Jesus speaks to His disciples before the Passion-Week 4 focuses on the Passion, death, and resurrection of Christ where the glory of the Father is most fully revealed.

This 33-day, self-led “retreat” includes daily readings and reflections to help you prepare to more fully encounter our Heavenly Father.
